Mesopotamian Civilization

Sumerian term: KALAM (π’Œ¦) β€” "the Land" Sumerian term: URI.KI (𒋀𒀕𒆠) β€” "Akkad/Sumer"

Date: 3,800–2,024 BCE

The flowering of Sumerian civilization was, in Sitchin's view, directly supervised by the Anunnaki. Every aspect of Sumerian culture β€” writing, law, mathematics, astronomy, agriculture β€” came from the gods.

The Sumerian City-States

Each major city was controlled by a patron Anunnaki deity: - Eridu β€” Enki - Nippur β€” Enlil - Ur β€” Nannar - Uruk β€” Inanna - Sippar β€” Utu - Babylon β€” Marduk

The Golden Age

This was the "golden age" of human civilization, when gods and humans lived together. The gods walked among people, gave judgment in their temples, and participated in human affairs.

The Conflicts

However, this period also saw the beginning of conflicts among the Anunnaki β€” the Pyramid Wars β€” as Marduk sought supremacy and challenged Enlil's authority.
