The End of Days

The End of Days, published in 2007, is the seventh and final book of Zecharia Sitchin's Earth Chronicles series. It concludes the epic narrative by examining end-times prophecies, the return of Nibiru, and the ultimate destiny of humanity.

Overview

The book weaves together biblical prophecy, Sumerian texts, and astronomical calculations to predict future events based on past patterns. Key themes include:

  1. The Return of Nibiru β€” The next "crossing" and its implications for Earth
  2. The Nuclear Destruction β€” The historical nuclear event that destroyed Sumer
  3. Armageddon β€” The final battle of the gods in the context of the Anunnaki narrative
  4. The Second Coming β€” Reinterpreted as the return of the Anunnaki leadership
  5. The End of the Age β€” The completion of the precessional cycle
  6. The Day of the Lord β€” Prophetic visions in a new light

The Nuclear Catastrophe of Sumer

Sitchin devotes significant attention to what he calls the "nuclear disaster" of 2024 BCE. According to his reading of the texts, Enlil and Ninurta authorized a nuclear strike against the rebellious city of Ur and its allies. The destruction of Sippar, the site of the Anunnaki spaceport, was collateral damage. Sitchin argues that evidence of this event can be found in:

  • The sudden abandonment of Sumerian cities
  • Radioactive residues in soil layers dating to that period
  • Biblical accounts of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah
  • The "death pits" of Ur containing hundreds of simultaneous burials

"The Anunnaki, in their final conflict over the control of Earth, unleashed a weapon of mass destruction whose effects can still be measured today."

Prophecy and Pattern

Sitchin argued that the past is the key to the future. He identified a recurring pattern in Earth's history tied to the NÉRU cycle (3,600 years):

Event Date Nibiru Connection
Anunnaki arrival ~450,000 BCE First crossing
Creation of Adamu ~445,000 BCE Nibiru cycle
The Great Flood ~13,000 BCE Crossing-induced catastrophe
Rise of Sumer ~3800 BCE Post-deluge reset
Nuclear destruction of Sumer 2024 BCE Celestial trigger
The predicted return ~2900 CE Next crossing
