The Lost Realms

The Lost Realms, published in 1990 as the fourth book of the Earth Chronicles series (the timeline is: books 1-3, then book 4 The Lost Realms, book 5 When Time Began, though Genesis Revisited was published in between), extends the Anunnaki narrative to the Americas. Sitchin argues that the Anunnaki established colonies and influenced civilizations in the New World as well.

Overview

The book examines archaeological sites and traditions across the Americas:

  1. The Other Eden β€” Evidence of Anunnaki presence in South America
  2. The Andes β€” The megalithic sites of Tiwanaku, SacsayhuamΓ‘n, and Machu Picchu
  3. Mesoamerica β€” The pyramids of Teotihuacan, ChichΓ©n ItzΓ‘, and Palenque
  4. The Maya Calendar β€” Tying the Maya calendar to the Nibiru cycle
  5. The Olmecs β€” The mysterious origins of the Olmec civilization
  6. The End of the Age β€” The Mayan 2012 prophecy and its connection to Nibiru

Key Arguments

Tiwanaku

At Tiwanaku (Tiahuanaco) in the Bolivian altiplano, Sitchin points to:

  • The Gate of the Sun with its calendar inscriptions
  • The perfectly cut stone blocks weighing up to 400 tons
  • Evidence of a seaport at an altitude of 13,000 feet
  • Astronomical alignments suggesting an age of 12,000+ years

The Mayan Calendar

The Mayan Long Count calendar, with its cycle of 5,125 years (⅕ of the precessional cycle), is connected by Sitchin to the Anunnaki's NΓ‰RU system. The end of the 13th Baktun in 2012 CE was, in Sitchin's earlier work, interpreted as the possible return of Nibiru.

"The great cycle of the Maya was not a prophecy of doom but a clock β€” measuring the time until the next crossing of the twelfth planet."

The Olmec Heads

The colossal stone heads of the Olmecs (some weighing up to 50 tons) feature African features that Sitchin argues represent the presence of Nubian or Egyptian visitors β€” followers of Marduk who fled to the Americas after his defeat in the Pyramid Wars.

The Global Network

Sitchin proposes that the Anunnaki established a global network of settlements, each serving a specific function:

Site Function
Baalbek Launch pad
Giza Navigation beacon
Sinai Spaceport
Tiwanaku Mining station
Stonehenge Observation post
Teotihuacan Observatory
