Sinaj (Sinai)

The Sinai Peninsula is a triangular land bridge connecting Africa and Asia, bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the north and the Red Sea to the south. In the Bible, it is the location of Mount Sinai where Moses received the Ten Commandments. For Zecharia Sitchin, the Sinai Peninsula was the primary spaceport of the Anunnaki on Earth.

Sitchin's Central Thesis

Sitchin identified the central Sinai plateau β€” specifically the area around the mountain known to the Egyptians as the "Stairway of the Gods" β€” as the main landing and take-off facility for the Anunnaki.

"The Sinai Peninsula, with its flat, elevated central plateau, was the ideal location for a spaceport. The approach path was marked by a series of landmarks culminating in the Giza pyramid complex β€” the ultimate navigational beacon."

The "Stairway of the Gods"

The Egyptians called certain mountains in the Sinai region Ta-ur ("the stairway"), and Sitchin connected this to the biblical "ladder" of Jacob's dream and the Sumerian concept of the DUR.AN.KI β€” the "Bond Heaven-Earth."

Supporting Evidence

Sitchin cited several pieces of evidence:

  1. Geographical suitability β€” The central Sinai plateau is flat, elevated (1,500–2,000 meters), and remote
  2. Sacred mountains β€” Mount Sinai (Jebel Musa), Mount Horeb, and Mount Serbal were considered holy in multiple traditions
  3. Monastic traditions β€” St. Catherine's Monastery, built at the purported site of the Burning Bush, preserves the memory of a sacred place
  4. Biblical narrative β€” The Exodus account describes divine presence on the mountain with smoke, fire, and thunder β€” which Sitchin read as a spacecraft landing
  5. The "Landing Corridor" β€” The alignment of Ararat, Jerusalem, Baalbek, and Giza all point to Sinai

The Exodus Connection

Sitchin reinterpreted the biblical story of Moses and the Exodus as a conflict over control of the spaceport:

  • Moses was an educated Egyptian prince who knew of the Anunnaki presence
  • The ten plagues were environmental disasters engineered by the Anunnaki
  • The parting of the Red Sea was a manipulation of tidal forces
  • The destruction of the golden calf was the destruction of a rival deity's symbol
  • Moses' "face shining" after descending from Mount Sinai was radiation exposure from the spacecraft
