Erich von Däniken

Erich von Däniken (born 1935) is a Swiss author best known for his 1968 book Chariots of the Gods?, which launched the modern ancient astronaut hypothesis.

Relationship to Sitchin

Däniken preceded Sitchin and laid the groundwork for the ancient astronaut theory. Sitchin provided a more detailed textual analysis (using Sumerian cuneiform). They are sometimes grouped together but had different methodologies.
