The Migration of the Gods
The Migration of the Gods refers to the movements of the Anunnaki across the ancient world as described by Zecharia Sitchin. These were not mythical wanderings. They were strategic relocations driven by political conflicts, natural catastrophes, and the shifting balance of power among the gods - and they left archaeological fingerprints across six continents.
Mainstream history tells you civilization emerged independently in Mesopotamia, Egypt, the Indus Valley, China, and Mesoamerica. Pure coincidence that pyramids appeared everywhere. Pure coincidence that every culture remembered “gods who came from the sky.” Sitchin saw what they refuse to see: these were not independent developments. They were Anunnaki outposts.
The Major Migrations
1. From Nibiru to Earth — The Original Landing
The original migration: the Anunnaki traveled from Nibiru to Earth approximately 450,000 years ago to mine gold. This was not exploration. This was a rescue mission. Nibiru’s atmosphere was failing, and gold particles suspended in the atmosphere were the only thing that could repair it. Earth had gold. The Anunnaki came to get it.
The first landing site was Eridu in the Persian Gulf, chosen by Enki for its access to both water and the gold-rich waters of southern Africa. From Eridu, the Anunnaki spread outward - establishing missions, mines, and eventually a full colonial infrastructure.
2. The Post-Flood Dispersion
After the Great Flood (~13,000 BCE), the Anunnaki re-established their presence on a devastated Earth. The old cities were gone. The landing corridor was gone. Everything had to be rebuilt.
| God | New Domain | Previous Domain |
|---|---|---|
| Enki | Eridu / Egypt | Eridu |
| Enlil | Nippur | Nippur (re-established) |
| Marduk | Babylon | Exile in the West |
| Inanna | Uruk | Multiple cities |
| Ninurta | Lagash | Nippur / Military command |
See the-great-flood for the full evidence on the cataclysm that reshaped the Anunnaki presence.
3. The Egyptian Connection
Sitchin argued that after the Pyramid Wars - the conflict between Enki’s lineage and Enlil’s lineage over control of the space facilities - a wave of Anunnaki refugees fled to Egypt:
- Marduk fled to Egypt and became Ra/Amun, establishing a new power base along the Nile
- Thoth - an Anunnaki scientist? - established centers of learning and wrote the Emerald Tablets
- Egyptian civilization’s sudden, explosive rise was not a mystery. It was Anunnaki exiles jump-starting a new colony
The evidence is in the architecture. The Great Pyramid at Giza was not a tomb. It was a navigation beacon - part of the landing corridor system. See pyramid-wars and landing-corridor.
4. The Migration to the Americas
After the nuclear destruction of the Sinai spaceport in 2024 BCE, the Anunnaki presence in the Near East collapsed. But they did not simply vanish. They relocated.
Sitchin documented extensive evidence for Anunnaki migration to the Americas:
- Tiwanaku in Bolivia - a site built with megalithic precision matching Baalbek - see tiahuanaco-baalbek-of-the-new-world
- The Nazca lines - not primitive art, but landing markers visible from the sky - see nazca-paracas-landing-facility
- The Olmec colossal heads - depicting African and Semitic features that have no business in pre-Columbian Mexico - see olmec-colossal-heads
- Viracocha / Quetzalcoatl - the “feathered serpent” god who arrived from across the sea and promised to return - see viracocha-quetzalcoatl
5. The Pattern They Don’t Want You to See
Everywhere the Anunnaki went, they left the same signature: megalithic construction with stone blocks weighing hundreds of tons, astronomical alignments that required knowledge of precession, and origin stories about sky gods who taught civilization to primitive humans.
The conventional narrative says these similarities are coincidence - that humans everywhere independently invented pyramids, flood myths, and sky gods. The evidence says otherwise. The Anunnaki didn’t disappear. They migrated. And their bloodline still walks among us.

The Atra-Hasis Epic records the Anunnaki presence on Earth, the Igigi revolt that led to human creation, and the Great Flood - the events that triggered the first great migration. Search CDLI for Atra-Hasis tablets.

Sitchin Analysis
Where Sitchin Agrees with Mainstream
-
Flood and sky-god motifs are widespread: Both Sitchin and mainstream scholarship agree that flood stories and narratives of sky-gods teaching civilization recur across many cultures. The pattern is real.
-
The megalithic sites exist: Mainstream archaeology confirms Baalbek, Giza, and Tiwanaku as genuine monumental sites with very large worked stone.
-
The American sites are real: The Olmec heads, the Nazca lines, and Tiwanaku are all authentic, documented archaeological remains.
-
Human contact and migration happened: Mainstream accepts extensive prehistoric human migration and cultural exchange in general terms.
-
Civilizations shared symbolic numbers and forms: Both agree that monumental and calendrical parallels appear across regions.
Where They Differ
-
One source or many: Sitchin says the parallels prove Anunnaki outposts seeding colonies. Mainstream holds that civilizations in Mesopotamia, Egypt, the Indus, China, Mesoamerica, and the Andes arose independently, each with a long local prehistory.
-
The pyramids: Sitchin reads pyramids worldwide as one blueprint. Mainstream reads the pyramidal form as a convergent solution - the most stable way to pile stone high.
-
The Olmec heads: Sitchin sees African and Semitic faces. Mainstream identifies portraits of local Mesoamerican rulers; the “African” reading is a long-discredited diffusionist claim.
-
The Nazca lines: Sitchin reads them as landing markers. Mainstream reads them as ritual pathways of the Nazca people, laid out from the ground and visible from nearby foothills.
-
The timing: Sitchin ties the American migration to the 2024 B.C. destruction. Mainstream dates the Olmec, Nazca, and Tiwanaku cultures to centuries or millennia later, developing on their own.
PRO vs CONTRA
| Argument PRO (Sitchin) | Counterargument (mainstream) |
|---|---|
| Pyramids, flood myths, and sky-gods appear on every continent | Monumental forms and flood or sky motifs are convergent human responses, not one blueprint |
| Baalbek, Giza, and Tiwanaku share precise megalithic construction | Each has a distinct local culture, date, and technique; the resemblance is superficial |
| The Olmec colossal heads show African and Semitic features | The heads portray local Mesoamerican rulers; the “African” reading is discredited |
| The Nazca lines are landing markers visible only from the air | They are ritual pathways of the Nazca, laid out from the ground and viewable from nearby hills |
| The gods migrated to the Americas after 2024 B.C. | Olmec, Nazca, and Tiwanaku cultures flourished centuries to millennia later, on their own |
| Civilizations arose too suddenly to be independent | Each “pristine” state has a long, documented local prehistory of gradual development |
| Viracocha and Quetzalcoatl were the same returning sky-god | These are distinct Andean and Mesoamerican deities with separate origins and iconography |
| One bloodline seeded colonies worldwide | Human genetics show deep regional continuity, not a common recent founder population |
| Berossus and the King List record the migrations | Those texts are Mesopotamian and say nothing of the Americas |
